Anne E. Dickerson, PhD, OTR/L, SCDCM, FAOTA, FGSA is Professor in East Carolina University's (ECU) Department of Occupational Therapy and is Director of the Research for the Older Adult Driver Initiative (ROADI). Dr. Dickerson is an international scholar in occupational therapy with older adults, aging drivers, interactive driving simulation, drivers with autism spectrum disorder, and driver rehabilitation. She was awarded ECU's 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Research and Creative Activity (video) for her scholarly achievements and over one million dollars in external funding. She is a fellow of the America Occupational Therapy Association and Gerontological Society of America as well as other honors and awards. Dr. Dickerson was project consultant on an AOTA/NHTSA project to expand occupational therapy driving rehabilitation services. Currently she leads a demonstration project in the state of North Carolina for improving older driver safety, funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. She was recently awarded the 2020 NC Governor's Award of Excellence for Service for her work in promoting driving and community mobility skills with teens and young adults with autism spectrum disorder.
