abstract

  • This study will document differences in older adults? performance while they drive to familiar destinations, unfamiliar destinations using paper maps and/or written directions, and unfamiliar destinations using an electronic navigation system (ENS). ECU will assist in the literature review, complete the Institutional Review Board proposal, work collaboratively to develop the protocols of performing the experimental data collection drives, assist in the design of the protocols for subject recruitment, and collect data on the drives. ECU will provide other personnel in addition to Dr. Dickerson that Dr. Dickerson deems necessary to perform the research including, but not limited, to a graduate student to assist in recruitment of the study participants, scheduling data collection, and ensuring the participants receive compensation as appropriate with the study. ECU will assist with the protocols for training older adults with ENS and evaluating the training.
