Tosha Lynn Owens

  • Tosha Owens, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of Special Education at East Carolina University. Her research interests include increasing access to the general education setting for students with challenging behavior, culturally responsive behavioral support, reducing disproportionate discipline for minority students through positive behavioral interventions and support (PBIS), and integration of school-based mental health supports within a PBIS framework. ; ;She is a graduate of UNC Charlotte where she was a graduate assistant for The National Technical Assistance Center on Transition (NTACT). She was the recipient of The Association for Positive Behavior Support Ted Carr Outstanding Poster award in 2016 and recently ;received the Council for Exceptional Children, Division for Research, Student Research Award in the area of Single-Subject Design for her study examining the effects of a tiered teacher coaching package on the implementation fidelity of a self-monitoring strategy with students at risk for EBD. ; ;
