Aim 1. Assess institutional capacity for biomedical and health disparities research - We will employ integrated mixed methods, combining rigorous qualitative and quantitative methods to assess university research infrastructure and support systems and to identify barriers to research productivity. We will leverage university systems (for enterprise resource planning, research administration and faculty activity) and public databases for trend analysis and peer comparisons. These data will be supplemented with focus groups, town halls and surveys. Aim 2. Develop an action plan to expand institutional capacity for biomedical and health disparities research - We will share Aim 1 outcomes internally and develop short and long term action plans to address identified needs with articulated metrics, benchmarks, and strategic priorities. We will use the transdisciplinary NIMHD Research Framework that encompasses multiple domains and levels of influence to define our research strengths and priorities.
