Our project aim is to enhance the capacity of East Carolina University (ECU) as a center for bridging the digital equity divide experienced by rural and underserved communities in Eastern North Carolina (ENC), specifically the ENC-29 county region. This work will build on previous collaborations across the university, with public libraries, and with health centers in ENC to improve access to digital technology and resources and digital literacy and skills training. We propose the following three project activities to transform how underserved communities access and utilize social and health enabling services: Activity 1. Conduct a formative evaluation to understand the internet connectivity and technology needs of various communities in Eastern North Carolina. Activity 2. Adapt and tailor our existing digital literacy training and resources to meet the needs of ENC; and train community health workers (CHW) to delivery training and resources to community members. Activity 3. Deliver digital literacy and health literacy training and resources to community members in eastern North Carolina.
