Joe Stock

overview

  • I am a cardiovascular and exercise physiologist in the Human Performance Lab. The goal of my research is to advance our understanding of and improve cardiovascular wellness in aging and at-risk populations. Specifically, I examine the mechanisms and determinants of aortic hemodynamics and vascular function. I investigate these cardiovascular measurements in the context of acute and chronic lifestyle interventions (i.e. exercise and diet). Some of the techniques my lab utilizes to assess cardiovascular health includes echocardiography and blood vessel ultrasound, as well state-of-the-art non-invasive beat-to-beat blood pressure and aortic blood pressure measurements.
