Christopher Juan Rivera

Dr.ChristopherRivera is a Professor in the Department of Special Education, Foundations, and Research. He currently serves as the Interim Chair and as the program coordinator for the department. Dr. Rivera also serves as the Regional Director for the North Carolina New Teacher Support program where he works alongside instructional coaches to support nearly 200 beginning teachers across eastern North Carolina. Dr. Rivera has nearly 20 years of experience as a special educator. His research has focused on working with students who have extensive support needs, particularly those who are culturally and linguistically diverse, and he's been recognized nationally as an expert in this field. Above all, Dr. Rivera has a passion for and delights in the success of both future teachers and students in K-12 settings.
