overview
- I am interested in Biopsychosocial-spiritual (BPSS) indicators of health and well-being for clinical and non-clinical populations. As a medical family therapist and marriage and family therapist, I examine factors associated with healthy relationship functioning. Within the social domain of the BPSS framework, I examine the involvment of friends in romantic relationships, a construct known as "relationship work". All of us speak to our friends about our romantic partners - that dynamic fascinates me! I am interested in the things romantic partners share about their relationship with their friends. If partners have a disagreement, do they vent to their friends? What do their friends say back? The intersection of the romantic and social network is of great interest to me. I also study psychophysiological processes accompanying discussions between romantic partners and their friends, particularly among the LGBTQ+ community.
