Dr. Tyler Youngman writes and teaches about the history and philosophy of cultural destruction, with an emphasis on the study of pastmaking: how documental artifacts, performances, and systems mediate historical truth, knowing, and becoming. Their agenda advances cultural heritage informatics and advocates for reparative bibliographic preservation practices rooted in commemorative justice. Their international recognitions include best paper awards from ALISE (2022, 2023, 2024), ASIS&;T (2023), and IJIDI (2024). Youngman is an alumnus of Syracuse University (PhD, CAS, MSLIS) and serves as an Assistant Professor in Library Science and Associate Director of the Community Archives Lab at East Carolina University.
