Mosquito biodiversity and dynamics of mangrove restoration: implications for human and wildlife infectious disease Grant uri icon

abstract

  • This is a foundational study of the link between mangrove restoration and human health through examination of mosquito community dynamics. The proposed interdisciplinary research project will investigate the effects of mangrove restoration on mosquito biodiversity, species dynamics, community structure, blood feeding behavior, and human perceptions of mosquito activity in the Everglades. As important components to vector dynamics, these factors of mosquito ecology have direct implications for infectious disease exposure risk of wildlife and humans.
