Rodent Metabolic Phenotyping System Grant uri icon

abstract

  • This application seeks funding from the Shared Instrumentation Grant Program administered by NIH's Office of Research Infrastructure Programs for the purchase of a rodent Promethion Core phenotyping system. Acquisition of the Promethion Core Metabolic Phenotyping system will greatly enhance the sensitivity, accuracy and overall capability of East Carolina University's (ECU) Metabolic Phenotyping core. Ongoing and pending NIH funded projects investigating the etiology and pathology of diseases related to metabolism are dependent on state-of-the-art metabolic and behavioral measurements in rodents. A new system will dramatically improve the integration of bioenergetics data at the mitochondrial and cellular levels with metabolic and behavioral data at the whole body level, facilitate new faculty recruitment, and enhance the growth of research funding and productivity at ECU.
