  • The Child Welfare Education Collaborative (CWEC) is an NC-DHHS funded program designed to support programs and services intended to provide enhanced support to children and families. The aim of the North Carolina CWEC is to increase the number of trained BSW-level child welfare workers employed in county-level Department of Social Service agencies. CWEC fellows receive specialized training in child welfare and complete child welfare specific practicum placements. The ECU School of Social Work supports the professional development of CWEC fellows through mentorship, advisement, and job placement assistance. CWEC fellow receive support for tuition, fees, books, and travel. Upon matriculation, CWEC fellows complete a state-mandated payback period in an approved job placement.
