This project addresses the need for prevention and reduction of Adverse Childhood Experiences and interpersonal trauma particularly focusing relational violence such as IPV & child maltreatment. During the pandemic, incidents of relational violence increased substantially. From March of 2020-2021, incidences of domestic violence increased an average of 8.1% in the US (Piquero et al, 2021). In North Carolina, the jump in child maltreatment victims went from 5,601 in 2019 to 22,399 in 2020, a 300% increase (Children's Bureau, 2021). This proposal seeks to fill a need for family and community support through offering evidence-based and evidence-supported treatments & trainings to families in eastern NC, a Mental Health Professional Shortage Area. Access to these services in the more rural areas of the county would be achieved by utilizing locations within those areas as host sights, reducing the barrier to access related to transportation.
