Data-Based Decision Making in Behavior Consultation using a Grant uri icon

abstract

  • I propose to develop and pilot an innovative approach to formative progress monitoring for behavior interventions using a computerized ?smart? teacher rating scale. The scale will assess teacher perceptions of primary prevention futility (i.e., estimated likelihood of treatment nonresponse), and I will assess the degree to which these data can inform behavior consultation. My specific aims are: 1) Analyze teacher ratings from an archived dataset to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of items in predicting student response to behavior interventions 2) Develop a prototype of a tablet-based ?smart? rating scale that efficiently measures primary prevention futility 3) Preliminarily test the feasibility, validity, and utility of the smart rating scale as a formative progress monitoring tool within behavior consultation
