The North Carolina Child Welfare Education Collaborative (CWEC) is intended to strengthen the public child welfare workforce by training BSW and MSW students for careers in local county departments of social services. Students agree to complete state training to meet competency requirements in an elective provided by the ECU School of Social Work, an internship in a public child welfare setting, and one year of post-graduation experience in public child welfare. In return, students receive a stipend and one year of post-graduation work credit.
