Sensory rooms provide safe space for neurodivergent and neurotypical patrons to develop and engage their senses, improve focus, or de-stress. The Laupus Library sensory room was established and opened to patrons in July of 2023. The library directly supports the Brody School of Medicine, School of Dental Medicine, College of Nursing and College of Allied Health Sciences, along with many other students across all of ECU's other undergraduate and graduate programs. The library hopes to impact students, faculty and staff that use the library and provide a safe, private space for sensory decompression and/or exploration.
