Glaucoma is the leading cause of blindness with African Americans more likely affected compared to EuropeanAmericans. Factors related to its development include increasing age and genetics, but these do not account forall risk. Here we propose to quantify the impact of biological age, an age that accounts for cumulativeenvironmental exposures measured in DNA, in racially diverse cases and non-cases of glaucoma and to engagewith the local community to understand their perceptions of the value of chronological age and biological agerelated to their risk of glaucoma.
