Water Quality Data Exchange Network Services in North Carolina: Increasing integrating and access to real-time and discrete Data

East Carolina University (ECU) will support the sharing of data in the Albemarle-Pamlico Sound region by 1) partnering with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) to migrate continuous, real-time data that will be collected by ECU in the Albemarle-Pamlico estuary into NWIS web; 2) training key local, state, and national partners on how this data can be used to improve environmental management of the estuary; and 3) working to migrate partner data from key discrete data sources into the WQX. As part of this initiative, ECU will work with partners to develop appropriate mobile and desktop applications and websites that analyze and display data using Exchange Network Services and provide interactive, user-friendly environmental information including real-time snapshots and temporal and spatial trends for the Albemarle Sound Region.
