This project will launch the online program Professional Writing & Information Design in the Department of English at ECU with integrated career readiness infrastructure to improve access, retention, and career outcomes for underrepresented students in rural eastern North Carolina. We will address three interconnected challenges: geographic and scheduling barriers that prevent adult learners, military-affiliated, and degree-completion students from accessing our career-focused program; student uncertainty about translating humanities education into professional opportunities; and the design of an internship model that supports students in creating professional networks.
