Filling the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) Skills Gap through Collaborative Distance Learning in Rural Eastern North Carolina

With a total project cost of $585,101, ECU requests from the Golden LEAF Foundation $190,487 in funds to leverage the USDA grant award we just received to expedite project launch. Specifically, Golden LEAF funds will be used to purchase distance learning technology at partner community college, and high school sites, and the equipment necessary to allow these sites to remotely access IIoT laboratory equipment housed at ECU from these locations. A complete line-item equipment list approved by the USDA for this project is attached. The funds from Golden LEAF will leverage USDA funds to expand the impact of this project to a broader geographic area and population though additional distance learning equipment than would otherwise be possible.
