Exploration Of The Subsurface And Development of Water Production In Well On Cape Lookout, Cape Lookout National Seashore Grant uri icon

abstract

  • The drilling of a 400 foot exploratory bore hole on Cape Lookout, Cape Lookout National Seashore (CLNS) will update current information on the location of the saltwater freshwater interface and water chemistry in some of the deeper aquifers. Further more, it will facilitate the installation of a 6 inch water supply well for the Lighthouse and keeper's quarters. Data collected during this project will clarify the water chemistry in the aquifers down to 400 feet and update information concerning the location of the freshwater/saltwater interface beneath Cape Lookout.
