Estimating Total Ecosystem Carbon in Blue Carbon and tropical Peatland Ecosystems

The Principal Investigator, David Lagomasino, will be responsible for delivering the final data products and report of the project. He will be lead the development of change maps for regions of West Africa and Southeast Asia. He will assist the PI with estimating above and below ground biomass for each of the land cover types identified in the study. Lagomasino will oversee a Post-Doc who will be working on the implementation of change algorithms applied to Landsat and Sentinel-2 imagery. The change maps will then be used to estimate the flux of carbon in and out of the coastal ecosystem. Lagomasino and/or the Post-Doc will attend annual team meetings in DC and field campaigns to collect data necessary to calibrate and validate the biomass and land cover models.
