BRIDGES will use the concept of comprehensive virtualization to implement a cyber-infrastructure that can host independent, deterministic and easily managed slices running networking experiments between US and European research groups. The project is seeking funding under the International Research and education Network Connections program administered by NSF under the network testbeds category. The $3mil NSF funding for this 3 years long project will be used to build a 100Gig ring between US and Europe with services orchestrated by a software (GVS) developed in Europe over he past several years. The project ties into the leading infrastructure projects in US and Europe with lever of collaboration received from over 12 large projects and research networks such as Internet2, GEANT, ESnet, Cloudlab, Fed4Fire, etc. This is a collaborative proposal between George Mason University and ECU.
