abstract

  • The Hispanic Community Development Center is the primary advocacy organization in Wayne County devoted to improving the living and working conditions of the Hispanic/Latino population. The Center began in 2002 as a grassroots initiative to address critical needs of Latino immigrants with job assistance and interpreter services. The Center is now in a position to develop leadership skills among board members and offer health promotion workshops to community members. One goal of this project is to develop linkages between the Hispanic Community Development Center and East Carolina University (ECU) School of Nursing. Through this linkage, Dr. Kim Larson will coordinate monthly leadership training sessions for Center board members and monthly health promotion and disease prevention workshops for the Latino community.
