Overview

Biomechanics and imaging data will be collected and used as inputs for musculoskeletal models to estimate bone strain metrics in females during prolonged walking, load carriage and running as part of a larger effort to predict the stress-fracture risk at the lumbar spine, tibia and metatarsal. The knowledge gained from this study would provide guidance in reducing the musculoskeletal injury risk and further promote Soldier performance and military readiness. This work will be completed in collaboration with Dr. Junfei Tong, located at the Biotechnology High Performance Computing Software Applications Institute (BHSAI).
