Susie Harris

  • Dr. Harris is an associate professor in the Department of Health Services and Information Management at East Carolina University and the Director of the Health Information Management program. She received her undergraduate degree in Health Information Management, Master's in Business Administration with a concentration in health care administration degree, and doctor of philosophy degree in Rehabilitation Studies all from East Carolina University. Harris’ AHIMA service includes the CEE Graduate Resource Alliance Committee, the PhD Curriculum Workgroup, Academic Curricula and Exam Competency Mapping Taskforce, and Approval Committee for Certificate Programs (ACCP). She organized, directed, and presented at the first North Carolina ICD-10-CM/PCS two-day training workshop. She has 17 years of experience in healthcare administration. Her areas of interest are health industry education, coding, managed healthcare, electronic exchange of health information, diabetes, and spirituality. She speaks and is widely published on ICD-10 and health information management education.
