My nursing journey began back in 2006 in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Pitt County Memorial Hospital (now ECU Health Medical Center). Armed with an Associate's Degree, my hunger for growth led me to enroll in ECU's RN-MSN program, and little did I know that this path would lead me to graduate from ECU twice. In 2012, I proudly received my MSN in Nursing Leadership, and later, in 2017, my PhD in Nursing. My doctoral research investigated the communication between nurses and resident physicians-a topic that continues to need investigation. But my curiosity didn't stop there. I harbor a keen interest inValue-Based Healthcareand health system models that enhance care quality while maintaining affordability. My professional journey has been diverse: from Assistant Nurse Manageron a Neuro Intermediate and Intensive Care unit to aHospital Supervisor,Project Manager, andAdministrator of Nursing Support Serviceswithin acute healthcare settings. In 2017, I joined the ECU College of Nursing faculty, where I currently serve as anAssociate Professorin the Advanced Practice and Nursing Education division. My additional administrative roles includeConcentration Directorfor Nursing MSN and DNP Health Systems Leadership concentrations and theDirector of Strategic Operations and Partnerships. In these roles I'm at the forefront of driving impactful change in the College of Nursing and at East Carolina University. Beyond academia, I'm deeply involved in professional organizations. I proudly serve as theTreasurer and Board Memberfor the North Carolina Nurses Association, and proudly serve as thePresident of the Beta Nu Chapter of Sigma Nursing Honor Society. I am a native ofGreenville, NC, and my wife-a fellow healthcare champion-is VP of Nursing at ECU Health Beaufort in Washington, NC.
