overview
- In the course of my educational journey, I spent two years in the School of the Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University, focused on Graphic Design and Illustration. Realizing that I loved the fine arts but didn't want to turn it into paid work, I received two bachelors degrees: one in International Relations and one in Foreign Languages--French. After a year spent teaching in Provence, I returned to the U.S. and eventually received my Masters degree in Library Science. In the course of my graduate program, I had an internship in the UNC-Chapel Hill Health Sciences Library, and worked in the library of an international non-profit focused on women's sexual and reproductive health and rights. In the course of these years, I developed a passion for issues related to public access to health information and research, and the ways that the conduct and reporting of research affect health and science policy and the delivery of healthcare. I've had occasion to use every single one of my degrees (including the intended arts degree) and believe that no education is wasted.
