My research focuses on multilevel influences on chronic disease prevention in communities of color with an emphasis on the adoption of cancer prevention behaviors. Additionally, I am interested in refining existing public health theories and intervention strategies to account for the contexts and experiences of Black and Asian communities and developing approaches to improve generalizability of public health research to communities of color. My current work includes the: 1) application of advanced mixed-methodologies to understand how facility and individual factors influence disparities in the resolution of abnormal breast cancer screening results and 2) use of dissemination and implementation science to understand the facilitators of a multilevel intervention to reduce disparities in colorectal cancer screening rates.
