Katrina DuBose

  • My overall research focuses on the promotion of health in children and families through physical activity. Specifically, I am interested in the use of physical activity as a prevention and treatment method in childhood obesity and the metabolic syndrome. I am also interested in identifying factors that influence physical activity participation in children. Through research I have been able to combine my Exercise Science and Epidemiology expertise and I have used cross-sectional and intervention study designs, along with analysis of secondary data sources, such as NHANES. My research has focused around the following three areas: 1) physical and health, 2) physical activity promotion, and 3) determines of physical activity.
    Research Interest: Children's physical activity, obesity prevention and treatment, motor skill development, physical activity epidemiology, and data analysis of secondary data national data sets (NHANES)

  • Reviewing Content for Extension Program I was approached by a copy editor to be a reviewer for the University of Kentucky Extension program,Families Move Together. The audience for this publication is the general public. This Extension program is part of the the Univ of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Services. The Family and Consumer Sciences Family and Consumer Sciences Extension improves the quality of individual and family life through education, research, and outreach. This multidisciplinary field focuses on building assets of individuals and families to address the perennial problems faced across the lifespan.
    The content I am reviewing is the Facilitator Guide detailing the 6 sessions is 51 pages long and the Participant Guide is 14 pages. the target audiance is the general population. 2026

I work with the interim Editor-in-Chief and the other associate editor-in-chief on journal related activities and decisions. 2024 - 2025
