Each year the editor-in-chief, Thomas Herron to 2017, and Andrew J. Fleck since 2018 and I as "Assistant" second editor produce two issues, averaging of 8 to 10 articles (220-250 pages) total, including 1 review article (peer reviewed) commissioned by us. The acceptance rate for submissions is 22-25%. We the editors vet all submissions before sending worthy ones out for review, and occasionally also serve as formal reviewers when the submission is in our area of specialty. We determine whether to accept articles or send them back for revisions based on peer review. We help to shape articles accepted for publication based on reader's comments. Wee do all copy-editing and proofing, as well as help with promotion, coordinate with the publisher, Brill, Leiden, The Netherlands (see below). We also solicit submissions and represent the journal at academic conferences. In 2013-2014, as part of our efforts to improve the journal, I took the lead in soliciting offers from major academic presses to take over production. Brill Academic Press, UNC Press, and Maney Publishers made offers. On April. 4, 2014, the board of the South Central Renaissance Conference, the copyright holding parent organization, approved the Brill offer, which was ratified by a vote of the society's members on April 5, 2015.
