In collaboration with DHHS, theNorth Carolina Institute of Medicine(NCIOM) is convening a diverse group of thought leaders to consider options and recommend strategies for expanding the accessibility of doula services in North Carolina.
The goals of this action team are to:
Develop recommendations around credentialing requirements of doulas for the purposes of Medicaid reimbursement.
Develop a consensus-based recommendation around the decision to develop a professional association for doulas in North Carolina.
Develop a recommendation for the appropriate range of reimbursement rates for doula services, aimed at effectively incentivizing doulas to expand services to Medicaid recipients.
Develop a recommendation for the desired scope and length of doula services from preconception to postpartum.
Develop a recommendation for PHP support in claim processing. 2023
