abstract

  • The use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) has significantly improved the efficiency of a variety of construction activities. Despite the advantages of shorter operation time, better accuracy, and reduced safety risks, traditional UAS photogrammetry models require a long processing time. In addition, construction inspection, verification, and communication tasks commonly employ disconnected platforms, resulting in a manual process of UAS data transformation. This project aims to investigate an automated approach to UAS model comparison for construction verification and communication purposes by utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cloud computing technologies. The proposed approach will allow rapid UAS model processing by adopting both photogrammetry and point cloud models, enable automated model comparison capabilities with a powerful AI engine, and communicate the results seamlessly to a web-based construction platform for information sharing.
