The proposed REU project will offer a ten-week research program in Software and Data Analytics for ten undergraduate students during summer semesters. We intend to recruit (at least 5) students from minority groups, underrepresented, and persons with disabilities. Furthermore, we'll recruit 50% of students from other academic institutions and at least 50% of students from institutions where research opportunities in STEM are limited. During the ten weeks period, each student will engage in closely mentored research under the supervision of a faculty mentor. At the same time, all students will get cross-training of other issues, and they will work together on small collaborative projects. The faculty-student interaction, as well as interaction among students, will include daily meetings, tutorials, weekly meetings, lectures/seminars, group meetings, and field trips. We intend to support continued mentoring of students beyond summer program. The focus of this REU project is to extend our research scope in software analytics with data analytics techniques.
