Funds were requested to redesign a human sexuality course to include interactive video panel discussions, TurningPoint clicker in-class polling of student opinions, thoughts, values, and reflections related to a variety of human sexuality issues, and to develop authentic assessments of students' conceptual knowledge and teaching skills through the use of case studies. The case studies would allow students to apply developmentally appropriate teaching strategies which align with federal and state regulations related to human sexuality education in public schools. . It is my hypothesis that the use of new technologies in this course will allow for greater expression of diversity, enhance tolerance, and understanding of a variety of perspectives and issues related human sexuality. It is also my hypothesis that through rich discussion and authentic assessment, students will not only enhance their conceptual knowledge related to biological and social issues within human sexuality; it will also enhance their teaching skills and abilities to relate to a diverse group of students in a developmentally and instructionally appropriate manner.
