Within Psychology of Music II (MUSC 5267) and its lab (MUSC 5287), student members will take part in an embedded research project. Elements of the course include completing ethics and training requirements, reviewing the IRB application, locating, and analyzing research, engaging in experiential activities, collecting data, debriefing study participants, and interpreting and writing about findings. Additionally, students will be provided with the opportunity to present their findings to other music therapy professionals and students at an academic conference. Rather than developing individual studies, as has occurred in the previous semesters, the students will be guided through the research process being conducted as a collective project, ensuring the timeline is completed with ample time to allow for adequate analysis and interpretation.
