The research-based project will adopt the design science research methodology, a qualitative research technique for creating and evaluating novel ideas within a practical context. Appropriate permissions from CISCO and ECU’s Institutional Review Board for human subjects’ research will ensure that the research design minimizes the risk to CISCO and its employees.
The project will start with the collection of qualitative data concerning CISCO’s current methodology. ; We will use structured interviews and site visits to observe participants within the decision-making context and to review relevant documents. Identified debiasing techniques utilized by CISCO employees will be assessed based on a debiasing framework (Drake &; Paul, 2017) to discover holes in the current methodology. ; Finally, we will present our findings and recommend new debiasing techniques.
