This project aims to understand why pregnant and postpartum people often don't get the mental health care they need and find ways to improve things. We will use different modeling techniques to study this problem from different angles. First, we will build a model that predicts if a birthing person needs mental health support based on our current clinical data. Then we will talk to pregnant and postpartum people, healthcare providers, and local leaders to understand the causes of barriers to care. These discussions will help us change the model to test if it makes better predictions. Finally, we will develop rules of how people make decisions for our future simulation based on the feedback provided during the discussions.
