This proposal is being submitted in accordance with NSF Dear Colleague Letter 18-102 to the NSF INTERN program. In this proposal, ECU graduate student Emory Wellman requests funding from NSF to supplement her GRFP award to perform an internship in Spring 2020 with the EPA's Gulf of Mexico Program in Gulfport, MS. As the PI of Wellman's GRFP award, Dr. Paul Gemperline is formally submitting the request to NSF. If awarded, INTERN funding will allow Wellman to perform coastal ecological field research in MS that is related to her ECU Master's work with mentoring provided by Dr. Troy Pierce of EPA.
