Remote Ischemic Conditioning to Enhance Motor Learning and Corticospinal Excitability in Children with Unilateral Cerebral Palsy Grant uri icon

abstract

  • Unilateral cerebral palsy (UCP) affects almost one out of every thousand live births in the United States and is a leading cause of childhood disability. This project investigates remote ischemic conditioning as a novel method to enhance upper extremity function and brain plasticity in children with UCP. The acquired knowledge will develop a new paradigm for promoting motor learning and potentially improve existing rehabilitation strategies in children with UCP.
