The East Carolina University College of Education: Rural Education Institute proposes to have 98 AmeriCorps members who will serve as peer tutors/mentors, classroom teaching support, or mental health clinicians. At the end of this program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for serving 4,050 kindergarten through 12th grade students. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage 480 volunteers who will be engaged in national days of service (9/11 Day of Service, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, National AmeriCorps Week, National Volunteer Week) and in service projects scheduled at partner agencies.
