The request for support is made to provide non-teaching professional editorial assistance critical to NCLR's significant goal of broadening the NCLR's audience beyond the writers we publish and the readers who subscribe. We seek, for example, to expand our African American audience through the new spoken word poetry contest. We will broaden our mission to preserve and promote North Carolina's rich literary history by inviting more pedagogical content that will share ideas for teaching North Carolina literature from the K-12 classroom through the university. Digitizing our content and then disseminating it through our website and social media will also expand awareness of North Carolina's literary arts beyond the state's borders, as such content can be accessed by readers all over the country and beyond--once they read about it--and want to read more. Digital/design expertise to develop "click"-inspiring content that drives readers to our pages allows the editor to draw from her familiarity with that content to direct its recreation into this new format by the new staff member.
