Dr. Muglia?s research group at East Carolina University?s (ECU?s) Coastal Studies Institute will be included as a sub-recipient to NCSU to provide their expertise in integrating, deploying, maintaining, and recovering oceanographic observing systems. In addition, the Muglia group will make available a vast database of oceanic observations that characterize current flows on the shelf and in the deep ocean, as well as the baroclinic structure of both. The observations will be provided to the NCSU researchers to provide informed Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) studies that simulate kite performance in a observed ocean current environments.
