NC-STeP is now primed to create collaborative linkages and develop innovative models for the mental health care delivery by connecting psychiatric providers with community-based settings such as such public health clinics, Federally Qualified Health Centers, and rural health centers. By doing so, the program will implement evidence-based practices to make recovery possible for patients that it serves. By providing such access to underserved areas, community-based behavioral health services that are integrated with the total health care needs of the patient are likely to result in optimum adherence with treatment, illness management, and recovery/resilience promotion. Effective and routine patient management will help minimize the incidence of patients decompensating into a behavioral crisis.
