The research team is conducting a large-scale study with 1,700 participants who have heart failure and are currently being treated with metoprolol succinate. These patients will either continue with their current medication or switch to carvedilol, with each patient being assigned to a group by a random selection process. Researchers will observe the participants for an average of three years.
