abstract

  • Undergraduate students at UNCW and ECU majoring in health, human service, or education related majors will apply to participate in the NC Healthy & Thriving Kids Research Collaboratory: Undergraduate Research Training Pilot Program, an innovative and interdisciplinary research training program that will be developed and facilitated by the co-investigators. The NC Healthy & Thriving Kids Collaboratory (NCHTKC) is an established connecting structure that facilitates potential research and evaluation collaborations between North Carolina-based faculty, professionals, and college students with the potential to positively impact NC children?s health and academic success. Its aims are to: (a) identify potential intra-professional and interprofessional research & evaluation partnerships across NC institutions/agencies and (b) research and address important issues impacting NC children?s health, school readiness, and/or academic success. This proposal builds on the aims of the Collaboratory, and focuses on the development, implementation, and evaluation of an undergraduate research training program intended to enhance research skill development and expand access to undergraduate research opportunities.
