ECU and Pitt County Schools will continue and expand upon a partnership initiatied in 2010 to place certified athletic trainers in Pitt County schools. Graduate student certified athletic trainers (i.e., students enrolling in and sustaining an ECU graduate program) will be hired to work as athletic trainers in Pitt County Schools July 1, 2012 - May 20, 2014. The grant PI, housed in the Department of Health Education and Promotion, Athletic Training Education Program, will hire, supervise, and evaluate these graduate students and will also serve as the Pitt County Athletic Training Program Coordinator and will work closely with a supervising physician and Pitt County Athletics Director.
