The Department of Technology Systems (TSYS) at East Carolina University (ECU) will held a 5-day GenCyber camp during the summer in 2024. Twenty high school teachers will be recruited to participate in the camp. Our main goal is to get the participants equip with cybersecurity knowledge and skills so they can deliver the contents they have learned to their students. This train-the-trainer format will introduce the participants a wide range of cybersecurity disciplines. Teachers will be provided with various resources to help them design appropriate K-12 cybersecurity curricula and teach them in their classrooms. This program will be a combination of both cybersecurity theory and practical application with a focus on GenCyber Cybersecurity First Principles. That is, the proposed program will provide fundamental knowledge and best practices in cybersecurity that participants need to teacher their students in the future. Virtualization technology will be used to create for participants conducting hand-on exercises. All tools will be open-source so participants can easily replicate their own teaching environment in the future. All the instructional resources used in the camp will be uploaded on a file sharing site to facilitate participants to develop their own cybersecurity curriculum beyond the program.
