As climate change continues to affect the Arctic, it is predicted that fisheries potential will increase. Semi-autonomous Arctic nations, such as Nunavik of Northern Quebec, are considering investing in industrial fisheries with the goal of using the revenue towards their development goals. However, due to the sensitive nature of the Arctic ecosystem and the critical importance aquatic foods are to local livelihoods and food security, it is unclear how industrial fishing expansion may impact communities in Nunavik. Thus, the purpose of this study is to model ecosystem changes, driven by industrial fishing, with household changes in food security and livelihood so that a clear understanding of the relationship between industrial fishing and household food security can be established.
