abstract

  • The proposed project will restore intertidal oyster reefs along eroding salt marsh and remnant marsh shoreline along Taylor's Creek within the Rachel Carson National Estuarine Research Reserve. We will construct reefs using Oyster Catcher? materials and designs. Reefs will be constructed using two different designs and will include planting of salt marsh. The goal of the project will be to test the efficacy of novel substrates and designs, developed in partnership with Sandbar Oyster Co. and the North Carolina Coastal Reserve staff in restoring oyster reef and salt marsh habitat.
